Who will you be working with?

You will interact with team members within Wabtec across all levels of the organization. You will work closely with your fellow team members responsible for planning, supply chain, and production.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for planning and expediting the movement of material and parts, based on production schedules, throughout manufacturing to ensure customer orders and requirements are met.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Do you have a college degree in a related field (preferred)?

  • Do you have a minimum of 5 years related production planning and expediting experience in manufacturing environment?

  • Do you have an understanding of material requirement and production planning which could be obtained through work experience or course work at a college or university?

  • Do you have knowledge of shop operations, assembly requirements and an understanding of machining and tooling problems?

  • Do you understand or have experience with production work orders and bills of material?

  • Do you have experience with Oracle (preferred) or any other MRP system?

  • Do you have excellent verbal and written communicate skills?

  • Do you have excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult issues?

  • Are you a team player who can work with all levels of management and interact in a positive manner?

  • In your previous experience, have you demonstrated effective problem solving and sense of urgency to matters which may require working overtime on short notice?

  • Do you have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment?

  • Are you proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)?

What will your typical day look like?

  • Facilitates and expedites the flow of materials within the various manufacturing departments.

  • Reviews production schedule and inventory reports and coordinates with manufacturing operations, purchasing, and shipping/receiving to ensure customer orders and requirements are met.

  • Analyzes assembly requirements to ensure all manufactured or purchased items are available; secures best schedule date if not immediately available.

  • Reviews inventory reports and informs purchasing if quantity of materials on hand are needed.

  • Conduct cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Maintains communication between production supervision, purchasing and shipping to ensure customer orders and requirements are met.

  • Coordinates with Master Scheduler to align dept schedule and new completion dates as needed.

  • Reports to management of any out-of-stock items needed to fulfill customer orders.

  • Reviews inventory exceptions and proactively assists with resolving any discrepancies.

  • Coordinates with manufacturing to get parts moved to approve production operations to minimize delay in processing customer orders.

  • Coordinates the receipt of purchased product and materials into production and shipping.

  • Working with Engineering, secures approval to use deviation such as available substitute materials and/or production routings, etc.

  • Coordinates with purchasing and customer service on issues with customer orders.

  • Provides feedback to customers on status of orders.

  • Reviews data from Oracle regarding customer orders, back orders, and delivery due dates.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $24-29/hr.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
