Job Summary

The Business Systems Analyst, Sr. ( BSAS ) supports the revenue cycle and the day-to-day operations of UMB . The BSAS will analyze system workflows and identify areas to improve process reliability and overall performance and monitor integrated workflows to ensure activities performed meet the strategic needs of the organization. The BSAS will serve as an advocate for continuous improvement within the department and facilitate innovations as a mentor to leadership, supervisors, and individual contributors.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 annually depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB’s Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate existing workflows to identify/implement opportunities for improvement supported by data-driven decision making.

  • Participate in the analysis and design of new integrated processes, ensure consistency and that expected outcomes are achieved.

  • Contribute in cross-functional teams that address strategic issues associated with users and/or system interactions.

  • Develop reports and present findings to management and other personnel to identify and implement strategies to address tactical and strategic goals.

  • Coordinate and/or conduct education and training on the proper workflow execution.

  • Meet productivity and accuracy expectations of the position.

  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experience using or working with Epic or another electronic healthcare system

  • Experience in software application analysis and unit/integration testing

  • Recognized certifications such as: Certified Professional Coder ( CPC ), Certified Professional Coder-Hospital ( CPC -H), Certified Professional Coder-Payer ( CPC -P), Certified Coding Specialist ( CCS ), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based ( CCS - P), Registered Health Information Administrator ( RHIA ), Registered Health Information Technician ( RHIT )

  • Ability to recognize patterns in what may look chaotic, leverages those to see a path forward

  • Active learners through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder

  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

  • Ability to view problems as a complex, interrelated systems

  • Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
