TITLE: CAR Team Director

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Sales and F&I Operations

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Ken Garff Automotive is seeking a dynamic and experienced CAR Team Director to lead and expand our Used Vehicle Acquisition Team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in automotive purchasing and team leadership, with a strong focus on driving success through strategic acquisitions of used vehicles from auctions, commercial sellers, and individuals. This role requires a visionary leader who can inspire and grow a team of buyers, ensuring the continuous improvement and success of our vehicle acquisition operations.

  • IT and Computer Skills– proficient in the use of computer programs and systems including: DMS, Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vLookup, etc.), Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and dealership software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Dealer visits in and out of state (up to 30% out-of-state travel)

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Used Vehicle Acquisition Team, ensuring a high level of performance and professional growth.

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the acquisition of used vehicles from various sources, including auctions, commercial sellers, and private individuals.

  • Drive the team to meet and exceed acquisition targets and key performance indicators.

  • Analyze market trends and data to identify opportunities for vehicle purchases that align with company objectives.

  • Foster strong relationships with key industry partners, including auction houses, commercial sellers, and individual sellers.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies during the acquisition process.

  • Monitor and report on team performance, providing regular updates to senior management.

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and finance, to ensure the seamless integration of acquired vehicles into the inventory.

  • Continuously assess and refine acquisition processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Stay current with industry trends and developments to maintain a competitive edge in vehicle acquisition.

  • Monitor used inventory control through vAuto Provision and oversees group and individual trainings in collaboration with vAuto Performance Manager

  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws

  • Ad hock projects and task as the job requires

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

  • 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Previous dealership experience a plus

  • Ability to read and comprehend job-related instructions and information whether electronic or paper based

COMPUTER SKILLS:Proficient in the use of computer programs and systems including: DMS, Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vLookup, etc.), Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and dealership software systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will be performed both in an office setting and in a dealership setting. While at the dealership you will stand and move throughout the dealership facility (lot, showroom, service department, offices) for most of the shift.
