What you will do

The Period End Accountant will be primarily responsible for executing accounting journal entries related to assigned entities in Stryker’s newly created Costa Rica Shared Service Center.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

• Perform manual journal entries for assigned entities

• Review and analyze accounting transactions and related financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness and provide explanations to business partners

• Collaborate with the Accounting Reconciliation team to standardize chart of account and its usage

• Provide support to business on request related to journal/recon backups

• Support month end closing process as deem necessary

• Comply with Corporate accounting policies, US and local GAAP

• Performs other related work as assigned by management

Education & special trainings:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field

• MS Office Suite

• Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish. Portuguese is a plus

• SAP, Oracle or QAD systems knowledge is a big plus

Qualifications & experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

• 1-2 years of relevant working experience in a finance function in matrixed international company (preferably American or Multinational company) with complex reporting practices and with exposure to various reporting systems

• Experience of working in a shared service center across a global /large organization will be an added advantage

• CPA or other accounting certification would be a plus

• Versatile, motivated, creative, intellectually curious, a good communicator and collaborator

• Demonstrated ability to perform consistently under varying business pressure as well as ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment
