Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Fire Protection System Designer to join our team!

In this role you will get to join the Fire Protection Engineering Division of the Parsons Federal Business Unit in support of various Government Agency projects. Parsons Federal provides a broad array of engineering design services to its clients including Fire and Life Safety Engineering and Fire Protection System Design.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards for Fire Protection System Designs and Layouts (NFPA 13, NFPA 72, etc.).

• Assist the Fire Protection Engineering team in the execution of the technical activities required on assigned projects and learn the discipline technical policies and procedures.

• Assist the project team in the production of projects on time, within budget and of high technical quality.

• Assist the Fire Protection Engineering team in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP, etc.).

• Comply with all safety policies.

• Visit job sites, including intermittent travel with overnight stay(s).

• Ability to complete site surveys and identify code issues and find solutions.

• Perform analysis of new and existing fire protection systems (fire alarm, sprinkler, etc.).

• Work in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

• Work will be performed under general supervision by the Fire Protection Engineering Manager.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• 6+ years of experience in fire protection system design to include Fire Alarm, Detection, and Communication Systems. Additionally, Fire Protection Systems (fire sprinkler, etc.) and Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP) design experience preferred.

• Minimum NICET Level II Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.

• Proficient in REVIT and Navisworks

• Experienced in AutoCAD.

• Understanding of 3D coordination with other engineering disciplines and trades.

• Knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP) REVIT design and coordination.

• Must have solid working knowledge of the most current modeling applications software in use, including being able to create and manipulate REVIT families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and similar REVIT functions.

• Fire suppression and life safety design experience preferred.

• Must be able to complete design projects start to finish, while working independently

• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).

• Program experience with, and working knowledge of, REVIT, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Suite, AlarmCAD and/or alarm fire alarm design programs.

• Strong organizational ability; detail oriented; high degree of accuracy.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent time management skills.

• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale

• Ability to provide peer reviews of colleagues’ work product.

• A positive, can-do attitude.

• Ability to travel to project sites on occasion.

• US Citizenship and ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• NICET Level III or IV Certification preferred.

• NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout and/or Special Hazards Systems. Preferred, but not required.

• Formal training on REVIT preferred.

Salary Range:

$29.42 - $59.33
