BioBridge Global Laboratory Technical Specialist in San Antonio, Texas

QualTex Laboratories (http://qualtexlabs.org/) , a subsidiary of BioBridge Global, is one of the largest independent non-profit testing laboratories in the United States for blood and plasma products. QualTex Laboratories is dedicated to supporting global public safety with the timely delivery of high-quality testing services for patients, donors and regulated biological products.

Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday 11 pm - 7:30 am, training will occur during regular business hours for up to 6 weeks

General Summary

The Technical Support Specialist III will provide technical support to all QualTex analytical laboratories. Provides technical support, to include inspection, maintenance repair, preventative maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance for all Qualtex analytical laboratories. Support communication and follow-up with external field service engineers to provide responsive oversight for all Qualtex analytical laboratories. Provide support where needed with execution of Validations, Certifications, and Verifications of all laboratory equipment, recording, and measuring devices.

Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.

It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Tasks

Participate in vendor training.

Train staff as assigned.

Provide oversight to ensure timely completion of troubleshooting and equipment repairs.

Participate in creation, revision or review of all equipment Standard Operating Procedures.

Coordinate preventative maintenance, IT support and BioMed activities.

Perform all tasks in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Perform all tasks in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.

Support and respond to emergency and planned shutdowns.

Maintain equipment documentation/records and equipment inventory.

Perform all tasks efficiently in a timely manner.

Proactively communicate all equipment issues or safety concerns impacting optimal operation or results generation.

Review instrument performance data.

Supports activities to ensure compliance for all inspections to include federal, state, international and local regulations, such as AABB, AATB, ISO, FDA, GHA, and EU, etc.

Maintain a positive work attitude.

Provide assistance to other departments as needed.

Participate in continuing education and attend meetings as required.

Compile and maintain data and other information as necessary for QualTex Laboratories use and inspection agency review.

Maintain excellent communication with the management team.

Manage all aspects of new and existing equipment.

Review and understand instrument technical data.

Schedule and monitor routine maintenance requirements for all instruments and equipment.

Coordinate preventative maintenance, IT support and BioMed support for all instruments and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Tasks

Participate in creation, revision, or review of all equipment Standard Operating Procedures. Schedule and monitor routine maintenance requirements for all instruments and equipment. Review and understand instrument technical data.

Education

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

The required major is Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or related discipline.

Experience

Requires three years of laboratory experience.

Prefer one year experience in laboratory instrument/equipment operation.

Knowledge

Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

Must maintain knowledge of ISO Standards, cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory requirements concerning creation and maintenance of controlled documents and record retention.

Must maintain familiarity of regulatory/quality compliance, to include FDA, EU, ISO, GHM, cGMP, OSHA, etc.

Must have a working knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and quality control.

Skills

Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.

Must have strong customer service skills.

Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to print and write legibly.

Must have the capability to be a self-motivated and self-managed individual.

Abilities

Must be able to keep information confidential. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.

Must work well independently and as a team member as well as facilitate organizational team activities.

Working Environment

Works in a well-lighted air conditioned and heated laboratory/department. May be exposed to electrical, mechanical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to a laboratory environment. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical laboratory environment. May have bodily exposure to refrigerator/freezer temperature, especially hands and face. Will work extended hours during peak periods. May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend.

Occupational Exposure Assignment - Category I

Physical Requirements

Must be able to drive on behalf of the organization. Will sit, stand, walk, and bend during working hours.

Requires ability to reach, lift and carry up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing corrected to a normal range.
