The Datacenter Physical Security (DCPS) team is organized within CO+I. DCPS is dedicated to delivering the most trustworthy and efficient physical security services to protect the personnel, infrastructure, data, and confidential information foundational to the Microsoft Cloud. The Physical Security Technical Excellence (TechEx) team is seeking a Principal Lead, Security Project Management who will be responsible for leading scalable physical security build standardization, optimization, and innovation. This role leads high-profile and business critical projects involving physical security construction, supplier availability, commissioning, integration and technical oversight for our worldwide critical infrastructure including datacenters, leased collocations, and other types of facilities. This position is responsible for working directly with numerous internal and external teams, including regional Physical Security partners, security technology engineers, architects, numerous security vendors, construction / project managers, and customers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services across a wide array of stakeholders and priorities.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver results through influence, collaboration and teamwork; role model our Microsoft values with a passion for diversity and inclusion.

  • Function as a physical security project management subject matter expert within Physical Security and the larger CO+I organization.

  • Author updates to Security Project Management and Integration runbooks, new technical commissioning and integration procedures, Request for Qualification documents, and contribute to Physical Security Baseline (PSB) updates.

  • Continuously improve the efficiency and maturity of the physical security project management and enable a trustworthy physical computing environment that protects customer data, intellectual property, people, and the critical infrastructure facilities in which they reside or operate.

  • Responsible for construction, commissioning, and integration of alarm systems, access control, video surveillance, burglary, radio systems and all other types of physical security systems.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation and tools for global physical security programs. This includes commissioning procedures, shop drawings, system mapping, and maintaining of record documentation.

  • Understand the physical security design workflow and scope, scopes of work for security systems and project work to ensure compliance and standardization to established baselines, cost and schedule efficiency, and policy.

  • Collaborate with peer teams and organizations to ensure alignment with broader strategy and initiatives, fully supporting leadership priorities, being excellent partners, helping reduce costs, time burden, and complexity, and being responsive trusted advisors. Host monthly syncs with partner organizations to ensure alignment across the business.

  • Continuously seek and recommend strategies and ideas to reduce churn, optimize, implement a creative solution to a problem, scale, automate, and simplify.

  • Lead and/or participate in cross functional team initiatives to test and pilot new security solutions.

  • Oversee assigned projects to ensure they are delivered in accordance with established requirements, deadlines, and applicable employment law and company policy.

  • Develop and amend policy, procedures, and guidance as necessary to support successful security project management and integration program management.

  • Engage with customers as appropriate to evangelize and represent Microsoft’s datacenter physical security programs.

  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and protect Microsoft information without question.

  • Ability to travel approximately 0-25% of the time both in planned and unplanned scenarios.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience in Security Program or Program Management or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in security construction management andsupporting implementation throughout construction project lifecycles.

  • Experience with standard Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) tools to include Bluebeam and AutoDesk applications such as Revit, Navisworks, BIM360 and more.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in security, engineering or related discipline, OR equivalent experience.

  • PSP, CPP, PMP, or CSPM certifications are highly desirable.

  • Extensive knowledge of foundational security principles, including but not limited to alarm, access control, and video surveillance systems and their application along with proven ability to manage the design and implementation of these systems.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Teams.

  • Proven history of successfully working across teams and managing stakeholders to create effective relationships.

  • Confident and skilled in preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to customers, senior leaders, and executives.

  • Analytical and process improvement skills to produce data driven insights and associated process changes.

  • Thought leadership and subject matter expertise to deliver programs and services while increasing standardization, simplification, and automation.

  • Ability to change plans, goals, actions, and priorities in response to an evolving business environment with awareness to operate as a champion for course corrections when necessary.

Security IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
