Senior Civil Roadway Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure – San Diego, California

Opportunity :

Parsons is now hiring for a highly experienced Senior Civil Roadway Design Engineer to support our transportation infrastructure projects in San Diego and the Southern California region.

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support Roadway design projects for Caltrans, City of San Diego, and County of San Diego.

In this role, you will be a team leader and have the opportunity to work on diverse projects and support designs for both conventional and Integrated delivery (design/build) projects. Your projects could include roadway rehabilitations, new roadway designs, interstate widening/expansions, roundabouts, toll-lanes, intersection improvements - just to name a few! In this role , you will often mentor and oversee the project work of more junior level staff engineers.

Relocation assistance is available for out of region or state highly qualified candidates. This role does require individual to be located in the general San Diego area.

Additional functions include:

  • Perform a variety of design and analysis functions for road/highway and related projects

  • Perform vertical alignments, and horizontal impacts, analyze cross-sections, calculate super-elevations, and execute grading and permit/plan preparation

  • Design of highway interchanges and rampway access.

  • Perform complex engineering computations and analyses, material quantity takeoffs, estimates and surveys

  • Perform designs using complex software like Microstation, InRoads, Civil 3D

  • Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

  • Has experience in Traffic Control design and familiar with Construction methods and techniques.

  • Experience with basic MOT ( Maintenance of Traffic) scenarios, such as site striping and flagging highly desirable

  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.

  • Prepares and issues specifications, datasheets, and other construction documents.

  • May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

  • Must have 8 years or more of related civil road/highway design experience.

  • Professional Engineer ( PE) registration is highly preferred

  • If PE is active in another state, an expectation to obtain one in California within 12 months of hire date

  • Experience supporting Caltrans projects is a plus, but not required.

Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required. (Prefer experience with Microstation and Autocad Civil 3D)

Salary Range:

$83,300.00 - $168,700.00
