Applied Research Scientist Responsibilities:

1. Perform research and develop solutions to computer software and computer hardware problems.

2. Research, design, and develop new optimization algorithms and techniques to improve the efficiency and performance of Meta's platforms.

3. Build pragmatic, scalable, and statistically rigorous scientific solutions for large scale enterprise problems by leveraging or developing state of the art machine learning and optimization methodologies on top of our unparalleled data infrastructure.

4. Work cross-functionally to define problem statements, collect data, build analytical models and deploy them at scale.

5. Build and maintain data driven machine learning models, optimization models, experiments and forecasting algorithms.

6. Apply excellent communication skills in order to develop cross-functional partnerships and spread scientific best practices.

7. Be able to work both independently and collaboratively with other scientists, engineers, designers, UX researchers, and product managers to accomplish complex tasks that deliver demonstrable value to Enterprise Products.

8. Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

9. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

10. Requires Master's degree in Computational Science, Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, or a related quantitative field and 12 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.

11. Requires 12 months of experience involving the following:

12. 1. Industry research solving analytical problems and building models using quantitative, statistical or machine learning approaches
13. 2. Machine learning, natural language understanding, computer vision, statistics or mathematical programming tools and techniques
14. 3. Performing data extraction, cleaning, analysis and presentation for medium to large datasets
15. 4. At least one programming language (i.e. Python, R, Java, or C++)
16. 5. Writing SOL queries
17. 6. Scientific computing and analysis packages such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, dplyr, or ggplot2
18. 7. Machine learning libraries and packages such as PyTorch, Caffe2, TensorFlow, Keras or Theano
19. 8. Initiating and driving applied research projects to completion with minimal guidance and
20. 9. Statistics methods such as forecasting, time series, hypothesis testing, classification, clustering or regression analysis

Public Compensation:

$212,383/year to $235,400/year + bonus + equity + benefits
