The Opportunity

The Dev-Extension team (“DevEx” for short) at Nutanix is a 65-engineer team located primarily in the US and India. The team plays a crucial role in maintaining a high NPS score by solving and root-causing challenging customer problems at a code level. As a Member Technical Staff - DevEx Prism at Nutanix, your role will be to handle escalated customer problems on a day-to-day basis as a Sustaining Engineer. You will be a vital part of our mission to maintain Nutanix's high industry standard NPS score by providing excellent engineering assistance alongside our support organization to our valued customers. Your Role

  • As an MTS engineer, you will be working on the Nutanix Cloud Management Product by helping us in debugging/providing relief to Customer On-calls in a timely manner. Collaborate within team and also cross-functional teams to solve the problems

  • Work as a part of an extended engineering team responsible for technical analysis and resolution of complex customer issues

  • Develop a deep understanding of complex distributed systems, and debug customer production clusters in real-time. Be able to feed learning back into the product.

  • Debug, Solve the customer problems(On-call) for Nutanix Cloud Management Product.

  • Own the Oncall, provide the root cause analysis, and relieve the customer by solving the problem or providing a workaround.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and propagate the feedback from On-calls experience in making products better.

  • Suggest any Automation ideas, implement them, and make debugging easier.

What You Will Bring

  • Proficient in understanding the problem, Debugging, and writing quality production code.

  • 2+ years of experience in Debugging on Linux systems, understanding of Linux monitoring tools like vmstat, iostat, sar etc.

  • Strong Analytical skills and Problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail to detail are essential.

  • Ownership of On-call, owns the technical issues and drive them till solution.

  • Nice to have understanding of File systems like NFS,SMB.

  • Good understanding of frontend and backend development.

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field.

  • 2 years of experience in Linux, Python/C/C++, and debugging tools.

  • I started working at Nutanix since June 2016 in the Cassandra DB team, where I learned how distributed DBs work and troubleshoot many complex customer problems. After two years working as an IC, I took up the additional role of managing different teams within the DevEx team at Nutanix. Currently I manage DevEx NCM (Nutanix Cloud Management) team. Prior to Nutanix, I worked in developing Linux Device Driver, File system, and various management tools at Dell, IBM, EMC, and Tata Elxsi in my 18 years of working experience. During my time at Nutanix I’ve learned new technologies which helps me in handling complex product issues that span across multiple areas. I along with my team are highly focused in resolving Engineering customer problems, root causing and fixing them to ensuring that we deliver top-notch solutions to our customers

How we work

We have a hybrid work model where you will visit the office twice a week currently. This allows for a good balance between in-person collaboration and remote work to accommodate low commute time accommodating better work-life balance. We also have a no meeting day of week, to enabled undivided focus.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 81,600 and USD $ 163,800 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
