Our client, a global leader in networking technology and solutions, is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team in the enterprise IT sector for a 6-month contract role.

Security Operations Engineer

The security operations engineer role is the front line of the security operations team. This role is critical for interacting with the organization, effectively detecting, reviewing, prioritizing, and escalating security issues and ensuring that we are responsive to the organization’s security needs by meeting established SLAs.

Location : Remote within US (EST/CST candidates preferred)

Duration: 6 months contract

Pay Rate: $37-42/hr on W2

Skills:

  • Hands on experience of working with various protective security technologies.

  • Experience with alerting and monitoring tools.

  • Experience with common security scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Tenable, Qualys, IBM AppScan, Burp Suite, etc.)

  • Experience with Tenable, Wiz.io, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Syslog, Netflow, Splunk, Falco, OSQuery a must.

  • Experience with security models in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP

  • Experience with AWS services: EC2, VPC, KMS, ECS, EKS, S3, Route53, IAM, SSO GuardDuty, Secret Manager, CloudWatch

  • 5+ years proven track record in cybersecurity.

  • Experience with MITRE ATT&CK

  • Scripting / coding in Python skills preferred.

  • Familiarity with OWASP TOP-10, CIS Benchmarks, STIGs

  • Certification (AWS Security Specialty, CEH, (ISC)2 CCSP – Certified Cloud Security Professional) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of SOC2, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, C5, IRAP, and other key cloud certifications preferred.

Primary duties:

  1. Conduct logging and monitoring coverage gap analysis for supported SBG offering.

  2. Develop and execute upon the rollout plan to enable Cloudtrail, VPC flow logs, OSQuery, Netflow, Syslog and

  3. Container logs (Falco) on target assets

  4. Work with stakeholders (US and non-US) to plan the enablement of all logging.

  5. Execute on the rollout / enablement of all applicable logging.

  6. Track progress and report on the completion for each offer for each log type.

  7. Configure alerts in Splunk and work with engineering teams to analyze, verify and implement corrective action.

  8. Should be able to work across time zones (reasonably) based on the stakeholders’ availability.

Secondary duties:

  1. Monitor security operations queues to ensure timely triage of operations events and requests.

  2. Work with various teams to ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities and findings.

  3. Validate security vulnerabilities have been effectively remediated within respective SLA timelines.

  4. Qualify and escalate security incidents to the Sr. SecOps engineers.

  5. Maintain documentation and playbooks for all assigned tasks.
