We are seeking an amazing Software Engineer II to join us in the Xbox Developer organization and help deliver the next generation of portability and input experiences to enable creators to easily adapt their games across various devices and input types and platforms. Game creators today must account for multiple different gamepad layouts, mouse & keyboard, as well as emerging technologies like touch controls, the Microsoft Adaptive controller, and more. When combined with differences in screen sizes, API surfaces across various platforms and novel play styles like cloud streaming, Xbox has an incredible opportunity to simplify the work needed for creators to reach players across this broad ecosystem. You will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in software development by collaborating across team boundaries, and you will play a pivotal role in enabling creators to build the best games in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Research & develop new features across the Microsoft technology ecosystem including investigating AI opportunities to accelerate game creators

  • Regularly deliver high-quality and maintainable production code across multiple platforms

  • Build out developer tools, APIs, and experiences to reduce creator friction in making games for various devices, input types, and platforms

  • Grow & foster an inclusive, creative, high-performance team culture

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years professional coding experience in C++ Passion for APIs, tools, and end-user experience and design.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in design, debugging, and problem solving.

  • Growth mindset to learn new skills and adapt to the needs of the organization.

  • Bachelor’s degreein Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • Advanced English level.

Preferred

  • Professional coding experience in C# and/or Javascript/TypeScript

  • Experience writing high performance and low-latency code

  • Experience working with Open Source Software
