Oriental Bank Analyst, Regulatory Compliance (Reporting & Quality) in San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Analyst, Regulatory Compliance (Reporting & Quality) is responsible for providing support in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of the Compliance Management System, focused primarily on federal and local consumer regulations for Financial Institutions in the banking business. Work closely with the Compliance Officer and Compliance Supervisor and have an active participation in the Regulatory Compliance Unit. This position will be working hybrid and is based in Oriental Center building, San Juan, PR.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain active knowledge of current state and federal legislation, regulations, trends, and all regulatory changes concerning Community Reinvestment, Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity), Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act), and other regulations as might be required.

  • Plan and perform regulatory testing and monitoring of laws, regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures in place in order to ensure compliance and report findings to management.

  • Reviews corrective action plans and follows-up.

  • Review reports correctness and accuracy by comparing the information against several databases.

  • Prepare report of findings for submission to management.

  • Coordinate and conduct meetings to discuss reports findings.

  • Write preliminary and final reports to management.

  • Utilize available tools to perform statistical analysis and produce written descriptions of data analysis methodology, data display (e.g. tables, charts), conclusions and recommendations.

  • Prepares analysis of data collection, validation/documentation of CRA data.

  • Offer support in the creation of training materials, as needed.

  • Assist management in the implementation and/or revision of the compliance policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate in special projects that primarily call for research, data analysis, writing, and/or mapping skills.

  • Provide assistance with internal/external CRA/Compliance reviews/examinations to ensure the company is in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings relevant to duties.

  • Assist Manager in prompt response to above-mentioned regulations-related inquiries.

  • Assist Manager in preparation of periodic loan activity reporting and submissions, regulatory examinations or ad-hoc assignments as required.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field required. Juris Doctor preferred.

  • Three (3) years of experience in compliance, reporting, quality control or related, required. Banking experience preferred.

  • Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures preferred.

  • Effective and clear communication skills with a broad range of employees across the organization, as well as with external counterparts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish with a demonstrated ability to write communications clearly, concisely, and effectively required.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret government regulations, trade journals and legal documents required.

  • Able to respond to common inquiries from regulatory agencies, and external consultants required.

  • Innovation and flexibility for meeting the demands of an ever-changing economic market required.

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) required.

  • Analytical, proactive problem solving, organized, detail oriented and able to multitask observing the defined quality standards.
