General Description
We are looking for an AWS Cloud Platform Architect under the Information Technology division. This individual should have a combination of hands-on cloud architecture experience, teamwork mindset and leadership capabilities to take lead on individual projects if necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for working within the Cloud Platform Services team to ensure alignment of platform capabilities to our Cloud Strategy
Executes the design and enablement of approved cloud infrastructure and platform services.
Understands cloud design principles, architectural best practices, and industry standards
Designs and supports implementing solutions based on cloud Well Architected Frameworks that are highly available, cost efficient, fault tolerant, and scalable
Delivers and supports Cloud Architecture artifacts, based on defined standards for Cloud COE - from an application, platform, and infrastructure perspective
Leads design and supports implementation of large migrations of existing applications to AWS
Supports design and implementation of enterprise data platforms using a combination of AWS and other cloud services
Partners with existing enterprise IT organization to integrate Cloud infrastructure/network environment with corporate infrastructure / data center environment
Leads the design of reference architectures for enterprise standard technologies
Provides input to the DevOps team for the implementation of codified stacks that meet the needs of the applications
Participate in the establishment of architectural standards that enable DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
Actively contributes to the development and validation of cloud policies, standards, and procedures.
Translate organizational-level business requirements and use cases into platform capabilities verified to meet the requirements.
Constantly develop knowledge of current and emerging technologies. Research new and emerging solutions
Assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization and present information to teammates and management.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
Preferred Certificates and Licenses
AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
Experience
10+ years of relevant IT experience.
5+ years working with public cloud platforms. At least 3 with AWS.
Experience with data center operations.
Experience architecting cloud infrastructures on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for small, medium scale, and enterprise-level applications in a highly regulated environment.
Broad experience with cloud adoption, including application readiness assessment, prototyping of new environments, server builds, data migration, and performance tuning of cloud environments.
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps and working in an agile environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)
Extensive knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and storage.
Comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem-solving.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds, levels, and technical expertise.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail and accuracy, intuitive, assertive, proactive, and positive.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment.
Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to operate with minimal supervision.
Keen interest in new technologies, willingness to research, and self-study to keep skills relevant.
Experience in financial services/banking a plus.
Experience in agile/scrum environment is a plus
