Responsibilities

In keeping with the French Hospital Medical Center health care philosophy, the Licensed Vocational Nurse, under the direction of a Registered Nurse collaborates with the health-care team to provide patient care through the use of the nursing process. Performs and documents basic physical

assessments based on normal anatomy and physiology. Recognizes deviations from normal and reports findings to the registered nurse or physician. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR and renewal of license by maintaining continuing

education units, as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities, the LVN may be assigned other duties.

Qualifications

Experience Required

Acute care experience within the last two years. New graduates and licensed vocational nurses without acute care experience within the last two years will be considered on an individual basis.

Licensure Required

LVN:CA;

BLS-CPR;

EIV - within 6 months

Demonstrates ability to collaborate with RN/LVN as a partner in the patient care team. Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriate patient care tasks, duties, etc. to other non-licensed team members. Ability and willingness to actively participate in process improvement activities. Demonstrates a caring, compassionate attitude toward others. Relates with patients/visitors empathetically and tactfully. Maintains effective relationships with coworkers and medical staff. Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Demonstrates clear and effective written and oral English skills and objectives active listening skills. Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies.

Pay Range

$30.38 - $37.95 /hour
