Position Description

Texas State University is seeking an outstanding candidate to join us in preparing reflective, transformative leaders and scholars in our graduate program in Adult, Professional, and Community Education ( APCE ) and Human Resource Development and Training. This position requires teaching, research, and service.

Specific responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the Ph.D. and master’s programs in Adult, Professional, and Community Education and undergraduate courses in Human Resource Development and Training. The successful candidate will teach face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda and a record of service or potential for service/leadership at the program, department, university, and professional levels.

Required Qualifications

At the assistant professor level:

  • Earned doctorate in Adult Education or closely related field ( ABD candidates will not be considered for this position)

  • Experience as an educator of adults

  • Demonstrated record of research and publication in Adult Education/Human Resource Development

  • Training at the national or international levels.

At the associate professor level:

  • Earned doctorate in adult education or closely related field

  • Record of teaching a variety of courses in Adult Education/Human Resource Development and training theory and practice

  • Sustained record of research and publication in Adult Education/Human Resource Development

  • Demonstrated record of external funding and conducting grant-funded research

  • Training at the national or international levels

  • Leadership or service with relevant professional organizations and/or academic journals

  • Record of service on dissertation/thesis committees.

The selected candidate will be given the appropriate rank based on college and university established polices

Preferred Qualifications

At the assistant professor level:

  • Interest in program/curriculum leadership

  • Experience with or potential for building partnerships with community or work organizations

  • Demonstrated record of external funding and conducting grant-funded research

  • Ability to teach a variety of courses in Adult Education/Human Resource Development and training theory and practice, including graduate courses in quantitative methodology, topics in Adult Education, Human Resource Development and training, and/or Adult Education/ HRD leadership

  • Record of positive teaching evaluations

  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty

  • Record of mentoring student research

  • Willingness to collaborate on research, publication, and professional presentations with students.

At the associate professor level:

  • Experience with and interest in program/curriculum leadership

  • Ability to teach a variety of adult education courses in Adult Education/Human Resource Development and training theory and practice including graduate courses in quantitative methodology, topics in Adult Education, Human Resource Development and training, and/or Adult Education/ HRD Leadership

  • Record of positive teaching evaluations

  • Experience teaching in higher education at the international level

  • Experience building research/education partnerships with community/work organizations

  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty; leadership experience/skills

  • Experience with graduate student recruitment

  • Experience collaborating with graduate students on research, publications and professional presentations

  • Record of publication in Social Science Citation Index journals.
