Description

Robert Half is seeking a skilled bookkeeper for a temp-to-hire role with an interior design firm in San Mateo.

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial transactions of the company, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. The ideal candidate will have experience with QuickBooks, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Transactions: Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process using QuickBooks.

  • Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements on a monthly basis.

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and invoicing.

  • Payroll Processing: Assist in processing payroll, including maintaining accurate payroll records and handling payroll taxes.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Budgeting Assistance: Assist in budget preparation and monitor company expenses.

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations, prepare tax filings, and coordinate with external tax professionals as needed.

  • Expense Management: Track and categorize expenses, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.

  • Audit Preparation: Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation as required.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small business setting.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks is required; familiarity with other accounting software is a plus.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and take initiative.
