Kaniksu Community Health Dental Assistant in Sandpoint, Idaho

A Kaniksu Community Health Dental Assistant is not just responsible for providing excellent customer service. They are committed to providing an excellent patient experience while performing essential clinical or administrative work in a fast-paced, productive environment. YOU ARE an essential team member charged with assisting patients in managing their care at Kaniksu Community Health.

Under the direction of the KCH Director of Dental, KCH Charge Nurse and Medical Staff Providers and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team, a typical day of a Dental Assistant might include;

  • Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies, and equipment

  • Collecting and recording accurate patient health histories that are within the past year

  • Patient management during dental procedures

  • Instrument transfer

  • Dental procedure isolation techniques

  • Preparation of dental materials, cements, amalgam, composite, impression materials, etc.

  • Dental charting

  • Prevention and management of dental medical emergencies

  • Inventory control and management – ordering supplies, maintaining and stocking appropriate quantities in all rooms

  • Reviewing charts day before patient appointments to check for any paperwork which requires updates and review next day's treatment

Experience Needed to Land this Gig:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • State Dental Certification Course

  • Personal commitment to the organization's mission and values

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to place dental sealants and to fabricate temporary crowns a plus, not required (willing to train)

  • Ability to maintain corporate confidentiality and HIPPA compliance

  • Excellent time management & critical thinking skills

  • Tact and graciousness in dealing with the public, continuous professionalism with patients and co-workers
