Job Description Summary

Manage associates in an engaged manner and own performance for the output of manufacturing lines in the assigned manufacturing unit. Guide day-to-day activities of the unit by training associates on a continuous improvement (BD Excellence) path in their daily manufacturing tasks and efforts. Teach associates to be responsible for safety, quality, production, cost, housekeeping, and overall policy compliance, while also giving timely recognition and/or performance management. Make sure that safety and quality standards are met while achieving production goals and schedules. Regular, punctual attendance is a key job function, as well as the ability to read, write and speak in English. Must be willing and able to uphold BD Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.

  2. Spend a minimum of 75% of time on production floor leading associates.

  3. Responsible for staffing and training plans within lines of responsibility and manufacturing unit.

  4. Provide regular, timely, and specific feedback to associates.

  5. Provide a learning environment and challenge associates to perform at a high level.

  6. Ensure an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management. Represent concerns of production associates to management, as well as management concerns to production associates.

  7. Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices. Works with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.

  8. Actively participate and support continuous improvement (BD Excellence) activities (Centerlining, Clean, Inspect, Lube and Tighten (CILT), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Daily Direction Setting (DDS), Equipment Ownership program)

  9. Collaborate with Production Planning to establish production schedules, monitor performance versus schedule for assigned unit and department.

  10. Track production metrics to ensure that department goals are being met. Communicates these metrics and progress to associates and management.

  11. Lead daily production operations.

  12. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

  13. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:

This position has the following minimum educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED: Required

  • Associates Degree: Preferred

  • BA/BS Degree – Preferred

  • In lieu of an Associates degree, 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years People Leading experience preferred.

  • 3 years Manufacturing experience preferred

WORK HOURS

  • Rotating 12 hour night shift (D-Shift)

  • 5:30 PM - 6:00 AM

  • Biweekly rotating “2-3-2 Pitman” schedule to include three days off every other weekend.
