Position: Special Education Teacher Location: Entrada High School, Type: Full-Time Schedule: 10:30 AM - 8:30 PM, Monday through Thursday (Evening Availability Required)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. This full-time position requires evening availability to accommodate our students' diverse schedules. As a Special Education Teacher at Entrada High School, you will have the unique opportunity to support adult learners, tailoring education plans to meet their individual needs and helping them overcome challenges to succeed in their academic endeavors. Teaching ability in Math is preferred.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.

  • Requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Requires a valid Associate or Professional Educator License for the State of Utah within the relevant “License Area of Concentration” and, if applicable, “Endorsement”.

    Don't have a professional teaching license? Follow one of these steps before applying:

  • To earn your license through the CSD Alternative Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (http://www.canyonsdistrict.org/depts/hr/appel/) (APPEL) program, you will first apply for an Associate Educator License (AEL). Follow this link (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lwrE_XxnM9UZ2pv08gFZktMa8nKr2yDdOzLodCSVtAo/edit) for information on how to apply for an AEL through the Utah State Board of Education (USBE).

  • Proof of an AEL or proof you submitted all the documentation correctly to USBE is required before you will be added to the candidate pool.

  • If you would prefer to earn your license from a University, you will enroll in a teacher certification program for Secondary Ed at a local university. Once you have been accepted, you will then apply for your Associate Educator License (AEL) and take the correct content Praxis test (if you do not hold a degree in the subject area you wish to teach).   • Proof of your AEL and Enrollment Letter will be required when you apply for the Candidate Pool.

    NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not limited to the following:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The teacher is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Requires the ability to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds.

  • Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, and interaction with critical personnel.
