job summary:

A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Sanford, NC area. This role will be responsible for evaluating and developing heavy structures, including main frames, linkages, and undercarriages.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

• Building and running FEA models using NASTRAN, LS-Dyna, and Creo-Simulate.

• Typical projects will involve static linear and non-linear analysis solutions, with some dynamic impact analysis.

• Working with designers and contributing own ideas to develop efficient solutions to structural issues.

• Supporting validation testing with gage maps and data analysis.

• Correlation of FEA models to match test data.

• Working with analysis team to continually improve analysis efficiency and quality.

• Involving other engineers and technical resources to address detailed technical problems.

• Clearly communicating analysis results through verbal presentations and written reports.

Skills:

• Familiarity with FEA model building and results interpretation.

• Experience with weld/metal fatigue, dynamics, vibrations, modal testing, isolation systems, digital signal processing or fatigue is not necessary but is highly desired.

• Ability to understand detailed drawings and technical specifications.

• Good mechanical aptitude.

Education and Experience:

• Engineering bachelor's degree.

• 0-3 years experience required.
