Nvidia Senior Video Architect in Santa Clara, California

NVIDIA is seeking a passionate and experienced engineer for our video IP team to develop hardware architecture for video compression/processing. If you are passionate about the latest video compression research and motivated to prototype ground up algorithms and architectures with a keen focus on delivering impactful solutions, then this role will be a great fit for you!

What you will be doing:

  • Design, implement, optimize, and maintain video decoder / encoder functional models for video codec development.

  • Develop new video architecture for the hardware implementation of latest and next generation video codecs.

  • Analyze the performance of the proposed architecture.

  • Support hardware team in the RTL implementation.

  • Develop tests, test plans, and testing infrastructure to verify the correctness of the design.

  • Collaborate with software team in incorporating new functionality into the video driver.

What we need to see:

  • MS or higher degree in EE or CS or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience with video codecs.

  • Broad knowledge with video and image processing techniques and with digital video compression standards.

  • Strong background in developing and evaluating video encoder / decoder architecture / algorithms / functional models

  • Good understanding of System-On-a-Chip (SOC) architecture

  • Strong analytical skills and the drive to solve difficult problems.

  • Thorough knowledge of C, C++, and scripting languages.

  • Self-motivated, good communication skills, and ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Thorough knowledge of digital compression standards such as H265 (HEVC), H.264 (AVC), VP9, AV1

  • Good understanding of video encoding algorithms and encoding quality is a plus

The base salary range is 148,000 USD - 276,000 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
