Senior Manager, Quality Assurance- Onsite Position- Defense Industry

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic Quality Assurance Professiona l to join our team in Santa Clarita, CA!

You will report directly to Divisional Quality Director General Manager/Business Unit Lead. You will strive to continuously drive process/quality improvement and have an open mind to organizational direction as well as possess exceptional communication skills, technical knowledge and presentation abilities.

You will provide strategic vision and leadership on process improvement, reduction of cost due to poor quality and QA capability/skill improvement as well as setting, implementing and maintaining standards for the QA Department and insuring adequate staffing levels.

You will direct, lead and manage a team of 12-15 people that consist of Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, and Quality Inspections. Direct reports will include QA Manager and Quality Assurance Engineer staff.

Location: Santa Clarita, CA

Salary Range : $ 136,000.00 - 181,300.00 ​per year

Your Challenge:

  • You will plan, direct and manage all Quality Assurance/Engineering activities for the reporting unit with budget responsibility for the functions managed.

  • Performs high level and complex advisory and consulting work for the company.

  • Establish structure and task-oriented culture in the QA Department centered around task completion and schedule adherence

  • Establish project plans and accountability/ownership for all QA related projects/tasks

  • Implement and own effective FRACAS, CCB, CAR and RCCA process

  • Improve supplier quality performance to 95%+ On-time/On-Quality

  • Reduce MRB aging queue to less than 2 days.

  • Maintain 100% OTD for all CAR closures

  • To provide leadership and foster an environment of successful execution and continuous improvement

  • Evaluate all available tools and needed resources for to ensure state of the art QA capability

  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers, suppliers and partners – drive and manage all continuous improvement initiatives

  • Proven experience in mentoring and coaching

  • Seasoned manager, comfortable recruiting, coaching, and mentoring highly talented candidates

  • Influence and establish best practices through solid decisions, processes, and tools

  • Direct investigation of equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, make recommendations and drive root cause determination

  • Estimate costs and submit bids for the department

  • Perform personnel functions

  • Interface with FAA and customer source inspection personnel.

What You Bring:

  • Seasoned professional with demonstrated leadership experience with 15+ year of QA/QE/Engineering experience with at least 7+ years of management experience.

  • Demonstrated progressively responsible management experience in leading an organization and achieving positive results.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with customers, management and peers both internally and externally.

  • FAA/EASA regulation understanding and general DoD DCMA/DCAA inspection requirements

  • Excellent communications skills and overall organization knowledge are required to develop plans and policies consistent with Company policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated analytical and attention to details/skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate change and is able to “sell” the organization on change.

  • Proven experience in continuous improvement.

  • Track record of producing results, meeting financial targets, and leading product development teams.

  • Operates with minimal supervision dealing on a day-to-day basis with executive, peers, sales force, and customers

  • Strong understanding of RCCA concepts and systematic problem-solving skills

  • Ability to think outside the box and systematically deal with highly dynamic engineering and organizational situations

  • Bachelor's degree in the technical field (Electrical / Systems / Aerospace Engineering) is a plus.
