Responsibilities
The Oncology Program Nurse is responsible for the implementation of a wide variety of Cancer Center activities and projects. Additionally this position provides support for all cancer care activities in the Marian Cancer Program. Acts as a primary resource for education personal counseling advocacy and problem solving for any patient family member or staff member that requests assistance. Upholds and applies standards established by the American College of Surgeons to ensure continued accreditation as a Community Cancer Center. Utilizes concepts derived from management and communications theory group dynamics and counseling methodologies in creating and facilitating programs and projects assigned by the Program Coordinator. These projects may include a variety of therapeutic cancer support groups professional and community educational presentations (multi-media) a comprehensive Cancer Center Newsletter Community Events (Cancer Screenings Survivors Day etc.). Supports quality care by participating and supporting utilization review and quality improvement activities. In the absence of the Oncology Program Manager provides leadership and management oversight of the Cancer Center personnel. Due to the nature of the position the duty hours are variable and occasionally include evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications
Minimum
Current CPR certification.
National Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) is required.
Requires minimum of 6 years of clinical Medical-Surgical Nursing including at least 3 years of recent clinical experience in Oncology.
RN
Has extensive knowledge of oncology nursing principles and practice and is able to apply these principles in a wide variety of clinical scenarios.
Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others.
Consistently relates to patients/visitors empat
Preferred
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience with administrative and/or educational nursing role highly desired.
Pay Range
$46.89 - $68.77 /hour
