The Admissions Counselor supports university enrollment efforts by representing the University of Washington Tacoma to prospective students, families, and educational partners. The individual in this position plans and implements recruitment strategies for an assigned territory and generates applications and enrollments through the cultivation of relationships, counseling prospective undergraduate students about the admissions process, and deploying a personalized approach to ensure high conversion/yield rates.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Counseling and Outreach (60%)

  • Plan, develop, and implement recruitment strategies for assigned territory which will include: on-site and virtual school visits and college fairs, participating in admission workshops and events, and conducting individual admission advising appointments

  • Generate applications and enrollments through the cultivation of relationships within an assigned territory to meet established goals

  • Counsel prospective undergraduate students about the educational opportunities available at the University of Washington Tacoma and the admissions process; deploy a personalized approach to ensure high conversion/yield rates

  • Participate in on-campus recruitment events such as preview days, open house events, and daily tours

  • Engage in ongoing strategic communications to include phone calls, text messaging, email, and other media to ensure high conversion/yield rates

  • Maintain ongoing, thorough knowledge of academic, co-curricular, and financial aid programs to provide comprehensive and factual information that will allow prospective students to make informed decision about their education

  • Work closely with campus stakeholders to execute strategies to meet enrollment goals and make referrals to appropriate student support services and resources Marketing and Communications (30%)

  • Create compelling, persuasive, and informative marketing copy for a wide array of admission audiences and media channels

  • Edit and post/distribute email, print, text, social and video content related to admission

  • Contribute to the development of social media editorial and email content calendars

  • Build communications within Slate CRM and monitor output and performance Other Responsibilities (10%)

  • Assist with the daily operations of the Office of Admissions including answering phones and responding to email and chat inquiries

  • Assists with the review of undergraduate admissions applications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Education or related field and a minimum two years of relevant experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED

  • Experience working with middle school, high school, or college students is preferred.

  • Experience with marketing and content creation in a professional setting is desired.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations in school or community-based settings.

  • Experience as a campus tour guide or orientation leader is welcomed. WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Standard Office Setting with Hybrid Availability. Some evening and weekend hours required.
