Port of Seattle Business Intelligence Market Research Analyst II in Seattle, Washington

Some of what you'll be doing:

As a Business Intelligence Market Research Analyst II, you will conduct small- to medium-sized research projects and report out findings to stakeholders.

  • You will design research for small to mid-sized projects, including survey design, sampling, data collection methodology, overseeing data collection, analyzing data and reporting of findings to stakeholders.

  • You will, under guidance, consult with clients across the Port on best methods to research business questions and interpret findings.

  • You will manage data collection and monitor compliance with sampling plans.

  • You will write up research findings for internal and external customers.

  • You will manage data files, including data cleaning.

  • You will assess data quality by considering and understanding systematic measurement error (sampling, non-response and other biases).

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have three (3) years of experience conducting research in a business setting, including survey design, sampling, data analysis, reporting results and provide consultation on research approaches.

  • Desired – We hope you have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, statistics, or social science.

  • Efficient Communicator – You possess effective verbal and active listening communication skills. You also have strong writing skills that convey research findings to non-researcher audiences. You can also develop and maintain effective working relationships to gain trust and establish credibility at all organizational levels

  • Organized Problem-solver –You have critical thinking and problem-solving skills and have efficient time management skills including prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.

  • Technically Skilled – You have knowledge of software tools for data analysis, such as Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) or statistical software such as R and survey platforms, such as Qualtrics.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.

  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion. The team currently comes in to the office every Wednesday and on an as-needed basis.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.

  • Security Requirements – You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
