$10,000 Sign-On Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center’s Cardiology and Diabetes Clinic has an outstanding opportunity a part-time (30 hours per week), Day shift, Registered Nurse (RN2) position. WORK SCHEDULE: • M-W 0730-1800 or 0700-1530

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Heart Institute at Harborview Medical Center provides consultation and follow-up care for patients referred to the clinic for cardiac-related issues. Services include the evaluation and management of cardiac-related health problems, patient education, cardiac imaging; including heart catheterization and electrophysiology, stress testing and cardiac CT. Other services include anticoagulation monitoring, ECGs and echocardiography. This clinic also houses HMC’s Diabetes clinic which provides chronic disease management for diabetes to the most vulnerable population group. The Diabetes Recent Discharge Clinic (DRDC) is an example of the active engagement this clinic provides for patients recently at Harborview, so care can be given to those actively needing assistance.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to prescribe, prioritize, delegate, coordinate and provide safe, therapeutic nursing care to patients/families. • Make independent judgments/decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient problems and situations. • Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate to coordinate continuity of patient care. Provides pre-assessment evaluation/intake assessments for patients seen in the multi-service, multi-specialty clinics. • EPIC and telephone triage -- responding to patients, reviewing test results and triaging treatment needs • Responsible for point of care procedures used in Diabetes-Endocrine and Cardiology clinics. • Responsible for peripheral catheter care, including insertion of peripheral catheters, monitoring and maintenance of peripheral IV lines. Administering IV medication through these lines. Procedure will be done according to HMC Policies and Procedures. • Demonstrates proper sterile technique for the set-up and breakdown of minor surgery procedures done in the Endocrine clinic. Wound care, including suture/staple removal and steri-stripping as well as wound check following cardiac device placement. • Adminstering IV and IM, SQ injections. • Responsible for the discharge and collaborative planning for discharge of patients from the Specialty clinics. • Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary services to provide a continuum of care for the patient. • Facilitates continuity of care across the continuum of care.

REQUIREMENTS: • Active, valid Washington State or Multi-State RN license required by start date. • One year experience as an RN, preferably outpatient nursing
