Amazon is all-in on games, and our mission is to be the most customer-obsessed company in the games industry. The “Anti Team” at Amazon Games is responsible for protecting the multiplayer experience of millions of players by providing anti-cheat, anti-fraud, and anti-bot solutions.

Amazon Games is seeking a highly talented Sr Software Development Manager to join our Anti Team.

In this role, you will work within our Business Intelligence organization along-side anti-cheat industry veterans to lead the development of Anti's AWS-based solutions to protect games developed or published by Amazon Games.

A Senior Software Development Manager at Amazon Games is expected to be strong in multiple domains and effectively lead strategic efforts from Data Science, Data Engineering, and Game Analyst team members, helping them understand and plan for the impact of their decisions on the team’s architecture.

You will lead fellow engineers, providing technical leadership and promote best practices in software engineering, including coding standards, testing methodologies, and software architecture principles.

A successful candidate will effectively communicate technical designs and decisions in writing and work very efficiently, delivering frequently and incrementally.

Additionally, the candidate should have a mastery of the AWS ecosystem and have a demonstrable track record of building and operating scalable, performant, and reliable services.

Key job responsibilities

Anti's SDM III works closely with Game Productions and anti-cheat/fraud experts to design and implement solutions for preventing, detecting and taking action against offenders.

These solutions leverage AWS and ingest trillions of events, train and run machine learning models, perform anomaly detection, and process telemetry emitted from other game security solutions. In general,

• You understand the business impact of your systems and show good judgment when making technical trade-offs between your team’s short and long-term needs.

• Where your work involves other teams with their own priorities, you create the right checkpoints to ensure a successful delivery.

• You consider where each system is at in its lifecycle and where to appropriately and proactively fix architecture deficiencies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • 5+ years of Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
