This position reports to the Director of Performance Nutrition, Olympic Sports. Direct nutrition services for a variety of assigned Olympic sports. This includes executing team nutrition programming, plus managing a large case load of student-athletes (SA) and their individual medical and performance nutrition care. Conduct SA nutrition screenings and manage follow-up, injury/surgery, and high-risk athlete nutrition plans. Educate on and review the appropriateness of SA supplement plans, including vitamins, minerals, and ergogenic aids, while staying within NCAA Supplement, anti-doping, and UW guidelines.

Co-manage the Performance Nutrition Center, learning how to recruit, train, manage, and schedule workers; conduct product inventory and ordering; and create menus. Develop nutrition materials, cooking classes, and cooking demos to provide SAs with actionable and hands-on strategies to optimize their fueling. Lead nutrition-focused sport science and data initiatives with assigned teams, including hydration, sweat rate, and body composition testing, while utilizing apps to help educate SAs and monitor their goals. Create reports to share data-led recommendations with the sport performance team.

Work collaboratively with the team physicians and other allied health care professionals. Actively participate in medical and staffing meetings.

Assist teams with travel and home competition menu review.

Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation. Assist with other nutrition and administrative duties as assigned. Adhere to and carry out established policies and procedures.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Minimum Requirements:
Established Registered Dietitian (RD) or someone who is RD eligible and able to write the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam within 50 days from the first day of work at the University of Washington. Previous experience volunteering and/or working in the nutritional field for collegiate and/or professional sports teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in nutrition. Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), or the interest in working towards this certification. Previous experience counseling clients as a RD, including blood work review. Previous experience in both clinical and performance nutrition settings. Previous experience working with disordered eating and/or eating disorder clients. Interest in sports science.
