Brief Job Overview

This is a non- supervisory position wherein the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the territory in the Western part of India namely states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh). The incumbent in this position will be responsible for all Customer Engagement activity within the region with a focus on Pharmaceutical Companies, Food & Dietary Ingredients and Bio Pharma accounts in the assigned region. Strategic Customer Development Manager will work with the Director Strategic Customer development and other relevant SMEA staff to help develop and implement strategic sales plans and performance goals. This position will coordinate and manage USP projects and services to support strategic initiatives and work closely with other SCD Managers, SMEA staff and the department head to identify product enhancements and new service offerings.

  • Makes on site calls to assigned and unassigned accounts. Responsible for identifying key people and decision-makers for USP’s products and services.

  • Must be able to develop and implement engagement strategies to grow sales and expand relationships.

  • Convert industry prospects into customers. Create and leverage high-valued relationships to increase USP’s account penetration and the overall value of USP within each account.

  • Provides scientific and / or scientific resource experts (i.e. Reference Standard Technical dept, Scientific Liaisons), technical and marketing support to customers and to relevant departments within USP.

  • Develop an overall understanding of USP’s business. Understands the macro and micro factors that Influence USP’s overall business to factors relevant to specific users (of USP products and / or services) within manufacturer organizations.

  • Understand the relationship between USP, Regulatory and Commercial markets both domestically and internationally and how those relationships affect our Revenue and Mission.

  • Acquires knowledge on how the customers use USP products and identify areas for potential new business.

  • Develops account specific plans and performance targets. Performs quarterly financial reviews of overall performance and performance against organizational reference standards, publications, and new product launches under Analytical Reference Materials.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and work with the appropriate India SMEA staff and Rockville staff personnel & relevant departments to implement, monitor and measure impact

  • Analyzes sales data for accounts and identifies trends and patterns that can assist the team in developing strategic plans for future revenue growth.

  • Maintains and updates account information for all assigned accounts through updates in Salesforce

  • Participates in User Forums (F2F/Live webinars), face-to-face customer visits and USP trade shows to educate customers and to promote USP reference standards, publications, and education programs.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Attend Trade Shows as when required and requested.

  • Travel can be up to 70% within the Western India

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences is preferred with management degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 12-15 years of successful experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology industries and/or in Analytical Instrumentation Industry

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of change management. Experience in business development, identifying and framing opportunities.

  • Experience in planning marketing strategies and execution.

  • Work requires excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Requires excellent interpersonal skills. Experience and ability to collaborate extensively internally across various functions, within the region and with the global headquarters, in a highly technical environment.

  • Experience and ability to build strong relationships with industry and stakeholders.

  • Ability to travel extensively for USP related events.
