Indian Health Service Supervisory Nurse (Operating Room) in Shiprock, New Mexico

Summary Position coordinates all aspects of nursing in the Operating Room (OR). Provide leadership, direction & technical expertise in planning, development, implementation & evaluates delivery of OR Nursing services. Reports to Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) & Assistant Chief Nurse Executive (ACNE). This position is located at Indian Health Service (IHS), Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS), Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Division of Nursing Services, Operating Room, Shiprock, NM. Responsibilities Assigns work to various staff members within the Operating Room (OR) and monitor performance of these staff. Provides the overall supervisory duties with planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating a nursing unit. Implements the Provision Of Nursing Care in OR, plans the work for the unit, evaluates daily operations and services, providing coverage, provides, guidance and leadership to the work unit. Performs the full range of patient care duties, completes all administrative functions and responsibilities. Performs nursing care duties as needed to maintain nursing skills and clinical competence and expertise in specialty area, and coverage nursing shortages. Sets up monitors, maintains, and interprets data from electronic and other medical equipment. Documents care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) per policy and standards. Participates with the hospital Performance Improvement Coordinator to assure compliance with TJC/CMS standards. Responsible and accountable for maintaining a budget that includes nursing personnel, FTEs, equipment, supply purchases, travel, training, etc. Assures adequate training for all staff. Includes compliance with standards of care, patient safety, and compliance with other applicable standards. Participate in program, policy and procedure development in areas such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control. Applies and implements EEO program and guidelines.
