    JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician position assists in maintaining the facilities to have safe, clean, operating conditions; performing preventive maintenance; and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns.

    DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Assist in maintaining the facilities’ electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, building structures, flooring, office furniture, appliances, grounds, snow removal, and vehicles.

  • Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.

  • Perform a daily walk through and complete a checklist to document current operating conditions of the buildings. This includes; mechanical rooms, restrooms, conference rooms, work rooms and kitchenettes.

  • Check vehicles daily for cleanliness and schedule maintenance.

  • Order, distribute, and maintain inventories of lighting components, appliance filters, maintenance items, paper and other miscellaneous consumable products used throughout the site.

  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.

  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.

    STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 5-7 years previous experience in facility maintenance.

  • Basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building maintenance and repair experience.

  • Great organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks & manage multiple projects at the same time.

  • Possess and consistently demonstrate a strong 'customer first' work ethic.

  • Consistently utilize, deploy & apply the necessary safety clothing, tools, & equipment in completing all assignments.

  • You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operation of a bioprocessing facility.

  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process.

  • Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.

  • This position operates in multiple environments, including an office and an outside environment.

  • In the office, the team member will work on a personal computer.

  • In the outside environment, the team member may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the team member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals.

  • Specific physical requirements include:

  • On occasion this individual will lift up to 100 pounds or heavy boxes.

  • Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds.

  • Walking of two (2) or more miles per day.

  • Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.

  • Working at heights, in confined spaces, and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.

  • Standing for extended periods of time.

  • Elevated work is required.

  • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
