Actalent Product Development Scientist in Smyrna, Tennessee

Description:

We are seeking a full-time Product Development Scientist with expertise in Dietary Powders, Capsules, and Gummies. This role is crucial for transitioning our paper formula processes into full-scale production with successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of V-blenders and effective powder layering techniques. You will be responsible for scaling up new products, managing the product development process, and ensuring that all products meet quality and regulatory standards. The Formulator will work closely with other members of the R&D team, purchasing, production team, and the Quality team.

• The candidate will lead the end-to-end innovation process from shaping product formulation, developing testing applications, scaling up a variety of product forms, to ensuring products can be manufactured reliably to ensure business continuity.

• Work closely with R&D Director, ensuring key projects are executed to the required standards for dietary supplements.

• Responsible for technical (R&D) excipient support activities. Particle size, density, extracts, and angle of repose to determine suitable solutions for customer applications.

• Ensure successful completion of paper formulas to finished products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of FDA regulations pertaining to dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, food, and cosmetics.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food Science, Nutritional Science).

• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in formulation / product development in dietary supplements or nutraceuticals, with a preference for experience in liquids, powders, and gummies.

• Experience with formulation software and staying current with trends and developments in the nutraceutical industry.

• Proven experience in process R&D, scale-up, and technology transfer in a GMP environment.

• Familiarity with quality by design (QbD) processes is a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
