John Asdell with Robert Half is partnered with a commercialized life science company in San Diego seeking a Corporate Controller. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded international biotech company. This Director level role is becoming open due to retirement, and it will report directly to the CEO. The position comes with an excellent compensation package and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Position Overview:

As the Corporate Controller, you will be a key driver in ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and strategic financial planning of the company. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in financial leadership within the life sciences sector, capable of working in a commercialized business.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

· Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

· Ensure compliance with international financial reporting requirements and the parent company’s financial policies.

Internal Controls and Audit Management:

· Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and uphold compliance standards.

· Manage and facilitate annual financial audits, working closely with external audit teams.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

· Drive the development of comprehensive financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic financial plans.

· Provide insightful analysis to support decision-making and enhance financial performance.

Cash Management and Treasury Functions:

· Oversee cash management, including forecasting, disbursements, and treasury activities.

· Manage foreign currency transactions, assessing their impact on financial outcomes.

Tax Oversight:

· Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely completion of federal, state, and international tax filings.

· Review quarterly tax provisions and disclosures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly desirable.

· Experience as a manager or higher in the life science or biotech industry AND/OR within a public accounting firm with life science clients.

· Thorough knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

· Proven experience managing financial audits and collaborating with external auditors.
