Hunter Defense Technologies Inc Senior Commodity Manager - Power & Mobility in Solon, Ohio

Description Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities Effective planning and project management used to develop robust commodity strategies that include: domestic and international sources, identification of strategic partners, and long term competitive advantage Leads sourcing efforts in support of Design for Value and Value Add/Value Engineering efforts on new and existing products Handles management and categorization of supplier grow, maintain, and exit plans Develops and executes long-term supplier strategy deployment, supplier cost modeling, supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, negotiations, long-term contracts, continuous supplier performance improvement, and supplier relationship development Responsible for aggressive annual purchased material cost reduction goals within assigned commodity spend Negotiates long term agreements with best in class price, payment terms, quality, and delivery terms for purchased products in compliance with corporate objectives Coordinates and supports on-site supplier assessments / certification audits and continuous improvement activities that drive down total cost and improve total supplier quality Manages relationship with upper management at key suppliers Performs root cause analysis on Supplier delivery/quality issues and implements corrective actions via supplier improvement plans Supports tactical purchasing team in ensuring accuracy of lead times in SAP Assesses supplier capacity and conducts risk analysis Manages supplier scorecard monthly for key suppliers Supports inventory reduction and Just-in-Time (Lean) inventory improvement programs such as VMI, Kanban, and Consignment Ensures Compliance to Government Flow Downs such as Berry Amendment, Made in USA, Specialty Metals, and FAR/DFAR/ITAR Identifies new and/or alternate sources of supply as necessary to support new product development, cost reduction requirements, and/or supplier performance issues Evaluates medium to long-term supplier capabilities in an effort to optimize the commodity supply base in support of supplier aggregation and spend rationalization objectives Performs all necessary duties to support corporate goals as it relates to established supplier quality, total landed cost, and inventory objectives Maintains a solid working knowledge of essential commodity trends including: industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes Participates in make vs. buy analysis Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization Adheres to all quality and safety standards Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned Secondary Duties and Responsibilities May often participate in cross-functional team and work groups Supervisory Responsibilities May offer guidance to other Commodity Managers Years of Experience Level of Education Minimum 5-7 years experience in manufacturing to include SCM, operations and/or engineering. Experience in Aerospace or Defense markets is preferred. BA/BS in Business, Operations or Supply Chain Management (SCM) required; MBA preferred Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility listed above satisfactorily.
