Job Title: Slitter Operator
Job Description
The candidate will work in a cleanroom environment for the manufacturing of resistant film for circuit board production. The film must be kept free from dust and debris, hence the cleanroom. The candidate will go through an "air shower" and wear a loose-fitting Tyvek suit in the manufacturing area. The candidate will operate winding equipment to put film onto 15-30 lb rolls, ensuring proper alignment, roll adjustment, speed, and meeting production demands. The candidate will often package their own product, with assistance from two associates. The candidate will be cross-trained in material handling capabilities, and any experience in shipping and receiving is helpful. The candidate must use measuring equipment accurately to coat and process the final product, differentiating between customer orders and setting up the equipment by reading and following procedures.
Responsibilities
Load and unload jumbo rolls of film using a forklift.
Perform and understand all aspects of setup and operation of the film coating line.
Monitor product quality and perform quality testing on each roll.
Keep accurate records and respond to any process alarms.
Maintain equipment and keep the area clean.
Follow cleanroom practices.
Use a computer to print labels and label the finished product or teach an assistant the labeling and packaging operation.
Produce rolls between 25-45 lbs and as many as 2-5 rolls at a time, wrap in black plastic, put labels on the core, and send out to the packaging department.
Essential Skills
1-2 years of experience in machine operation, mechanical functions, and material handling.
Experience with rolling, rewinding, or slitting operations is ideal.
Strong attention to detail and ability to measure for quality purposes.
Ability to perform math operations such as subtraction, addition, division, and read bar graphs for data collection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Exposure to machine operation or a strong desire to be in that field.
Ability to work overtime as assigned and flexibility to move shifts to cover for others if necessary.

Work Environment
Smaller facility with 32 employees where there is significant tenure and no layoffs. The cleanroom is maintained at a comfortable 65-72 degrees. The warehouse may not be temperature controlled. The lighting has a yellow tint to prevent UV interaction with the film. One night shift opening from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Chesterfield, Virginia.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
