Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Housing Program Manager, the Temporary Housing Choice Voucher Program Coordinator will perform a range of administrative, technical, and field tasks in compliance with the regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice Voucher Program. This position requires a keen understanding of Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) procedures, with a focus on application intake, recertification, rent increase evaluation, and contract management. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred to effectively serve the diverse residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process applications for housing assistance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HUD regulations.

  • Verify applicant eligibility based on income, household composition, and other relevant factors.

  • Compute rental payments in accordance with HUD guidelines and program regulations.

  • Conduct annual and interim re-examinations of tenant eligibility, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Manage a caseload of housing clients, providing ongoing support and assistance throughout the voucher process.

  • Perform administrative tasks related to the review and maintenance of client files and program documentation.

  • Facilitate communication between tenants and landlords, addressing concerns and resolving disputes in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure seamless delivery of services to program participants.

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of contracts, ensuring compliance with program requirements and legal standards.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program, including application intake, recertification, and rent increase evaluation, is required.

  • Strong understanding of HUD regulations and program guidelines.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a caseload of clients efficiently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with database management systems.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team environment.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in social services, public administration, or a related field is a plus.
