About the role

The Senior Manager Operations Center of Excellence Upstream will be leading the department that supports our main Upstream production process. The group consists of approximately 50 process, equipment and quality specialists. The role of Sr. Manager Operations Center if Expertise will be performed in office hours and is an onsite role. The activities are very dynamic and varied. The preferred candidate likes challenges, doesn’t avoid problems, makes decisions and enjoys working in teams.

Responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

  • Lead and develop a team of dedicated supervisors, process and equipment owners and quality specialists in a matrix environment and providing guidance, coaching, and support. As a people manager, you are accountable for the HR budget, selecting new employees for my shift, setting objectives aligned with the business goals, and conducting the 5 conversations cycle, ensuring achievement of team goals within established timelines and budgets

  • Defines strategy for key initiatives and strategies for projects, to ensure customer needs are being satisfied for all critical milestones and deadlines.

  • Establishes initiatives, project plans, and key milestones related to the processing of ingredients and/or (new) pharmaceutical products, and manages progress to achieve optimal outcomes.

  • Produces timely and effective solutions by evaluating process improvement opportunities and subsequent modifications.

  • Regularly audits project plans in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal and external regulations and procedures.

  • Ensure the continuous, validated state of processes and equipment, reflecting a commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance. Support the Operations departments in Upstream by ensuring high OEE of the equipment

  • Accountable for overseeing the resolution of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and GMP incidents, ensuring robust change control, and driving the effectiveness of corrective actions to uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.

  • Foster a LEAN culture through Root Cause Problem Solving, manage Tier 2a, and address performance issues to achieve optimal outcomes.

  • Perform Gemba walks, observe processes, and confirm their effectiveness.

Qualifications

Requirements for the role

  • Master degree in a related field

  • Minimum 8-10 years of practical industrial experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of operational standard processes and industry trends

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and inspiring change in a complex operational environment

  • Proven track record of sponsoring of various projects

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
