Controller
POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain, record, and analyze financial accounting transactions through the preparation of financial statements. Assist the VP of Finance in providing finance and accounting services throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Duties
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting transactions, financial statements, journal entries, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Prepare, records, and maintain financial schedules, reports and filings required by laws, regulations, or management.
Provide assistance/trouble shooting on recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, review performance to budget, prepare periodic reports to assist Villages and other departments as needed.
Maintain a system of internal controls to ensure accurate recordkeeping, safeguarding of assets and segregation of duties.
Manage the day to day interaction with outside auditors during annual audits.
Advise, assist, support, train and guide Accounting departments at the Villages
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Provide input on various policies, procedures and programs and assist on implementation.
Provide information as requested and assist in the development of documentation that will assist the Villages in achieving financial goals.
Supervise accounting staff.
Implement policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.

Responsible for business operations relative to the setup of new entities.
Maintains the Company Wide Master File.
Updates the PVM Real Estate Holdings schedule, at least annually.

Qualifications
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education :
- Business degree with major in Accounting or Finance
Experience :
Five years of accounting experience—Required
Five years of senior housing experience—Preferred
Computer Skills
Intermediate to expert knowledge of spreadsheet and database software- Required
Experience with SAGE-100—Preferred
Certificates & Licenses:
Certified Public Accounting Certificate—Preferred.
