WestRock Company General Manager in Spanish Fork, Utah

Job Summary:

The Business Unit General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of the business unit’s people, revenue and production goals. The Business Unit General Manager is responsible for managing the P&L, manufacturing and sales performance, customer satisfaction, efficient transportation and logistics, and compliance with all corporate values and policies as well as state and federal regulations across regional area.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Business Excellence

• Maintain laser focus on outcomes that drive higher earnings, improve volume and lower costs

• Aggressively monitor and actively ensure maintenance and protection of WestRock assets

• Lead P&L development including annual budgeting, forecasting, financial summaries, gap analysis and variance reporting

• Ensure awareness of and compliance with all corporate, state and federal health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and regulations

• Be able to manage large transitions/transformations through the development of detailed processes, transition plans, and information sharing while engaging multiple resources/functions

• Overall accountability for KPI achievements ensuring direct alignment with budget and P&L, volume, sales price, safety and quality, labor cost, R&M (repairs and maintenance), customer and associate satisfaction, etc.

People and Culture

• Assist in recruiting, hiring and training to assemble and develop well-rounded, diverse and effective teams to ensure strategy and goals are achieved

• Create and promote a culture that propels customer and employee satisfaction

• Create and encourage the discipline of solution-based sales - identify customer pressure points, then develop and bring packaging solutions that make customers more successful

• Provide expert guidance and consistent direction to sales team(s) in establishing goals that align with company values and strategies

• Partner with corporate sales team and others to develop and execute against strategic growth opportunities

• Work with Sales Management to develop highly effective sales teams capable of improving volume and profit margins

• Effectively and confidently communicate with broad range of stakeholders including customers, associates, business unit management team, and regional and corporate leadership

Work Environment:

• Frequently works indoors, in an environment that is climate controlled

• Occasionally works outdoors in natural environmental conditions (both hot and cold)

• Occasionally works indoors in an environment that is not climate controlled and has high temperatures

• Occasionally works indoors in an environment that is not climate controlled and has low temperatures

• The role is frequently sedentary, which entails sitting or being stationary

• Occasionally stands or walks for 1-2 hours at a time

Technical Skills:

• Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

• Knowledge and experience with enterprise software, (i.e. Kiwi, JDE)

Experience:

• Required: Minimum 10 years of leadership experience; managing multi-site facilities

• Required: Minimum 10 years of cross-functional experience in Sales, Manufacturing, Safety, Quality, Environmental Compliance, and Financial Management

• Preferred: Six Sigma certification or continuous improvement experience

Education:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree (Business or Engineering preferred)

• Preferred: M.B.A. degree (or other advanced degree)
