Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Sparks, Nevada

Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill an Accounting Manager role for a long established Reno based company. The position will report into the partner group (which includes two accounting/finance professionals) and manage and perform day to day accounting. The responsibilities for the role include:

• Oversee and handle the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, project accounting and payroll.

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Complete general ledger accounting functions.

• Prepare various month end and quarterly regulatory returns: sale and use tax, franchise tax, payroll tax, union reports, benefit reports and reconciliations.

• Lead year-end financial reviews conducted by external CPA firm.

• Prepare financial reporting to assist the owners in financial and cash forecasting.

• Prepare reporting for project accounting such as an over/under report and a working knowledge of costs to complete reports.

• Prepare all reports related to banking compliance such as the borrowing base report.

• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing company related events such as team building events, parties and the company’s annual summer event at Tahoe.

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the office by ensuring phone coverage, maintenance programs are being followed, IT support with external support company, and key access controls.

This is a small business and the person in this role will be responsible for a number of hands on tasks. The position is open to replace at 20+ year veteran of the company who has retired. In order to be successful in the role, the candidate:

  1. Can demonstrate through their work that they have integrity and operate with trust and cooperation.

  2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  3. Working knowledge of US GAAP.

  4. Strong leadership and mentorship skills in building relationships.

  5. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and networking systems.

    a. Any knowledge of Foundation for Construction would be a plus.

  6. Ability to work with many different departments and people at different levels within the company. This would include the company’s owners.

Requirements

  • Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

  • Command of journal entries, general ledger experience

  • Strong familiarity with financial statement preparation

  • Microsoft Excel experience at the intermediate level - look ups and pivots

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • 5+ years of recent relevant financial experience

  • Reliable technology and analytical abilities
