Job Summary
- This role is responsible for leading overall engineering and customer feedback analysis processes for supplier products and overseeing supplier product designs, processes, and activities. The role collaborates with suppliers and internal teams to manage the acquisition and supply of designated commodities. The role applies advanced subject matter knowledge to drive continuous improvement innovation in product design and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of the engineering relationship with key suppliers for the AMS regional development and manufacturing of packaging components for both the PS and Print businesses.
Reviews and evaluates supplier product designs, processes, and activities for compliance with company manufacturing guidelines, quality processes, and standards; provides tangible feedback based on results to improve product quality and mitigate risk of product failure.
Manages the identification, access, acquisition, and supply of designated commodities, and manages the relationship, contract development, and contract execution with the supplier of such commodities.
Assists in resolving purchasing and procurement-related issues between factories and vendors.
Leads overall engineering and customer feedback analysis processes for supplier products; communicates and collaborates with management, internal, and outsourced suppliers, manufacturing, and development partners to develop and implement changes to product or process to reduce defects, improve quality, and lower costs.
Directly places, processes, and follows up on orders to expedite and ensure timely delivery to meet project schedules.
Develops and implements ways to measure supplier performance to drive continuous improvement.
Provides advanced domain-specific expertise and overall procurement engineering leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
Drives innovation and integration of new supplier technologies and company quality initiatives into product design and manufacturing.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in purchasing/ sourcing, planning, project management, compliance and quality assurance, supplier relationship management, or a related field.
