GE Aerospace Welding Technician - Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) in Springdale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

The Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welding Technician to join our aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess experience with welding systems with a background in aerospace welding standards. The technician will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining welding equipment to repair aerospace components, including both traditional and laser welding technologies.

Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Operate traditional welding equipment, and use fixtures, tools and gauges to produce aerospace parts meeting engine manual tolerances.

  • Follow detailed work instructions and practice weld procedures per GE and Nadcap/AWS specifications.

  • Operate laser systems to perform welding tasks on aerospace components.

  • Set up laser machines according to engineering specifications and production schedules.

  • Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and ensure compliance with technical requirements.

  • Safety Protocols: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance and repair activities. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimize hazards and risks in the MRO shop.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Associates degree or High School diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution.

  • 3+ years of weld or laser weld experience required.

  • 3+ years of experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Certified Welder (CW) and/or Certified Laser Welding Technician (CLWT) desired.

  • Experience operating Laserdyne or similar laser systems in a manufacturing setting desired.

  • Previous experience in the aerospace industry is desirable.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.

  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Basic fluency with the English language.
