Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. Energy Risk Management Intern in Springfield, Missouri

We are seeking applications for our Energy Risk Management internship at our Headquarters facility in Springfield, Missouri. This is a paid internship that offers employment during the 2023-2024 school year with the opportunity to continue through summer. Normal working days are Monday through Friday. Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in a Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or other related curriculum and have successfully completed two (2) years of work towards a bachelor’s degree.

As an Energy Risk Management student intern projects will likely include the following:

  • Assist with verifying all energy transactions (Power, Gas, Diesel, Emissions, Renewable Energy) executed by Power Marketing are captured in the appropriate risk system accurately valued to measure Mark-to-Mark valuations and credit exposures.

  • Assist with monitoring counterparty credit risk and reviewing changes in counterparty financial strength and creditworthiness.

  • Assist with preparation for monthly Energy Risk Management Committee meetings.

  • Provide assistance with documentation of Power Marketing desk procedures.

  • Monitor and report compliance with the Energy Risk Policy.

  • Design, track, and develop new reports for Energy Risk Management functions including tracking effectiveness of new hedging & trading strategies.

  • Support the Energy Risk Management department by performing research and examining trends, and analyzing events such as (weather, maintenance outages etc.)
