Description

Job Summary –

In collaboration with other members of University Advancement, the Director will develop and manage all aspects of the office of Alumni and Family Engagement to increase the depth and diversity of alumni and family engagement in support of the University, further the University’s mission and promote its positive image.

Examples of Duties

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Plans, coordinates and and implements alumni events, including Homecoming & Reunion50

Provide direction for the day-to-day operation of the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement including supervising the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement10

Serves as an adviser to the Alumni Council and leadership

Recruits and directs alumni leadership within alumni chapters. Assists in planning and communication of their events and activities.5

Works with the Alumni Council and alumni chapter leaders to communicate and implement University policies and procedures

Assists the Vice President for Advancement in fulfilling the purposes of the Advancement Division

Answers individual questions /requests received in the alumni office

Develop a plan for a more robust family engagement program (parents, guardians, legacies, etc.)

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Additional academic credentials are preferred.

Years of Experience –

5-10 years of alumni relations or equivalent experience

Certification and/or Licensure

A valid driver’s licenses

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Handle highly confidential material, understanding that all university information should only be disclosed to others who have a need to know, for legitimate business or educational reasons. Have the ability to exercise and apply sound judgment and decision-making skills as well as the ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of data.

  • Superior communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse constituencies; clarity and persuasiveness in written and oral communication.

  • Exceptionally strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrated skill with, Microsoft Office (Specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook), along with social media platforms

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Successful working independently as well as part of a team. Must have a collaborative approach to working with others

  • Successful experience working with volunteers including, recruiting, training and implementing strategies for volunteers.

  • Ability to travel regularly

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the department’s needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
