Emerson Enterprise Sustainability Planner in St. Louis, Missouri

The sustainability planner will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the development of sustainability strategies and initiatives with a broad range of partners across many functions and regions. This job role will provide you with a unique overview and insights into the wide range of sustainability activities and initiatives underway throughout the organization.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Organization and Project Management of Internal Activities

  • Help coordinate the executive Environmental Sustainability Steering Committee meetings and other internal events (e.g., sustainability supplier summits, off-site meetings, business workshops):

  • Schedule meetings, send slides/communications to participants April 2024

  • Engage key partners before the meeting to set expectations and review progress

  • Plan and coordinate the submission and scoring processes for Emerson’s Environmental Sustainability Awards and refine the design/process for future award editions.

  • Provide project management support to team-wide sustainability initiatives to ensure effective communication and timeline management.

Internal Communication and Networking

  • Support the team with developing content and slide building for key internal and external meetings (Investor conference, customer meetings, employee presentations).

  • Assist in the development and review of expert content for internal communications and messaging about environmental sustainability topics and help socialize our sustainability strategy across Emerson worldwide.

  • With time, provide technical expertise and leadership to teams across Emerson, creating a sense of agency and enabling others to drive sustainable actions.

  • Help develop content for Emerson’s annual Sustainability Report.

Sustainability Strategy Development

  • Support the data collection, reporting, and quality review processes for specific environmental sustainability KPIs, such as Scope 3 GHG emissions, collected across the entire organization.

  • Support the visualization of our GHG emissions data in a way that provides internal teams across

  • Emerson with the right level and scope of data required to action improvements.

  • Support GHG emissions modeling exercises to help us understand the roadmap and levers for Emerson’s net-zero GHG emissions targets.

  • Specific assignments where you will capture and analyze data, conduct industry research, and present your findings about a new sustainability area to business leaders and management (e.g., peer or customer benchmarking on specific sustainability topics).

  • Assist with the content development and calculation process for the reporting of Emerson’s Sustainability-enabling technologies revenue.

You take time to ask questions define the problem and make learning a priority. You engage in collaborative planning and can work in multiple projects concurrently. You identify and get to know your stakeholders and colleagues and develop your own network.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, environmental science, physics, mathematics, or related similar.

  • 2 years of experience working in a corporate environment

  • Prior experience developing presentations using PowerPoint and have the ability to summarize complex material into key finding and implications for the business

  • Prior experience handling large data sets and performing data analytics

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • 2 years of working experience in corporate sustainability or a related technical field – knowledge of the theory and practice of sustainability in a commercial environment.

  • A team player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Disciplined and with excellent organizational skills
