In this position you will coordinate, support, and participate in the planning, design and construction of varied maintenance, construction, and remodeling projects. The incumbent must work effectively with staff from the Facilities Management Division (FMD), Real Estate and Construction Services, Office of State Procurement, agency partners, architects, consultants, and contractors. This position is responsible for tracking and communicating construction and maintenance progress and ensuring suitable functionality and operation of facilities after work is complete.
Responsibilities include to:
Prepare scope of work documents for remodeling, repairs, and minor construction projects for maintenance of facilities in coordination with annual work plans, prioritization, and budgets.
Administer vendor contracts to ensure compliance with State and Department policies, procedures, and specifications.
Maintain records of maintenance and project status.
Work with FMD staff and management to ensure state facilities and infrastructure are safe, well maintained, and useable for their intended purpose.
Plan and schedule all preventative maintenance activities for facilities under the custodial control of the Facilities Management Division, working closely with the responsible individual of each trade.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Archibus or another facility management database system.
Knowledge of construction, construction techniques, sequencing of work, and a basic understanding of construction principles.
Knowledge of building components, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and construction methods.
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to develop short communication documents for agency partners and others.
Outstanding customer service skills, in order to provide cooperative, timely, and professional service to FMD partners and Capitol Complex visitors.
Ability to read and understand construction documents, plans, and project specifications.
Ability to effectively articulate program decisions, changes, schedules, and other relevant information.
Ability to develop specifications for small projects and purchases.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities at one time while achieving desired results.
Ability to obtain $25,000 Authority for Local Purchasing Certification within 6 months of hire (training provided).
Must possess a valid class D driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
2 or 4 year degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Facilities Management or related field.
Three or more years of experience coordinating building construction and maintenance projects while assigned to multiple facilities and structures.
Experience as a manager of construction, chief estimator or related construction experience is desired.
Experience in construction inspection and in making recommendations for repairs.
Experience with Archibus TIFM software.
Experience with SWIFT purchasing software.
Additional Requirements
