Category Manager Production Operations and Real Estate

Purpose of the position

The Global Category Manager is responsible for the creation, development and execution of the sourcing strategy for the global Production Operations and Real Estate Management categories consisting of multiple divisions and sites globally.

This role will lead the production operations and real estate management categories as part of the global indirect sourcing team in Kalmar utilising industry best practices and trends to lead and transform these key categories with a focus on high performance and with a continuous improvement mindset.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Leading new thinking and approaches to category vision and leadership that delivers continual growth, customer satisfaction, return on investment and solutions for customers, divisions and suppliers.

  • Bringing Category analytical discipline, innovation, disruptive technology, new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.

  • Providing insight to the business division(s), functions, & operations on how to best develop and leverage Supplier capabilities for the organisation(s).

  • Leading change for the organisation to continuously adapt to a dynamic business environment, organisational challenges and changing priorities

  • Identification of and collaboration with key stakeholders to gather all of the key input to develop key cost reduction, global and regional policies to manage both behaviours and spend using technology and customer-centric strategies.

  • Structured and cohesive make vs buy analysis and dialogue on core capabilities and in/outsourcing activities together with negotiation and implementation of those with functional partners.

  • Formation of and leading where applicable cross-business governance forums

Identify specific research opportunities and leverage insights and resources through the utilisation of a broad range of data sources, market research findings, tools, analysis and technology to bring new learning to category leadership solutions.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering, MBA preferred

Experience:

  • At least 8 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Project management

  • Sourcing experience with Production Operations and/or Real Estate management preferred

  • Management experience gained in a large multinational company with a matrix organisational structure essential.

  • Budget and business plan development and implementation.

  • Extensive experience in working with global teams and executing significant transformational change projects is necessary.

Skills:

  • Strong Negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills

  • Successful collaboration with key stakeholders and ability to maintain relationships at the executive level

  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills

  • Ability to gather relevant information systematically; consider a broad range of issues or factors; grasp complexities and ensure the relationship among problems or issues; seek input from others

  • Build an effective team committed to organisational goals; foster collaboration among team members

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness to effectively leverage and focus resources across organisational/ geographic boundaries

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the supply chain and cost drivers for the category

  • Knowledge of Strategy building and implementation
