Job Description

Operates motor vehicle to pick-up and deliver mail, supplies and related items both and off hospital property.

Job Responsibility

• • Drives vehicle safely and in strict accordance with traffic laws, time schedules and route assignments.

• Receives incoming hospital mail and delivers outgoing mail at local post office.

• Collects supplies from external locations and delivers to various hospital locations.

• Receives, transports, and delivers inter-hospital mail and supplies to/from multiple locations, as requested by departments.

• Uses paging system to receive and respond to transport requests.Follows safety protocols to ensure no injury to self/others (proper body mechanics, safe driving, infection control, etc.).

• Conducts daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspection of assigned vehicle prior to beginning route.Inspects all items listed on instructional maintenance form and records any defects needing repair.

• Builds and maintains positive working relationships hospital staff using principles of good customer service.

• Performs related duties as required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

• Appropriate New York State Driver's License, required.

• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, required. Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time, required.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and/or written instructions, required.

The salary range for this position is $22.53-$24.80/hour
