The position

Legal (LEG) is the competence unit for all legal matters related to the Equinor group’s business areas and corporate activities and consist of legal experts, specialists, consultants and qualified support personnel. The department has overall responsibility for advising on all legal matters and on ethics and anti-corruption compliance, undertaking Integrity Due Diligence research and acting as the Corporate Bodies’ secretariat within the Equinor group.

By joining our team in Legal you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in an international team of lawyers providing legal advice to the Equinor business area Marketing, Midstream and Processing (“MMP”), which is the largest supplier of energy to Europe.

  • Build on your existing legal and commercial understanding to become a specialist lawyer when it comes to sales and trading of energy, such as natural gas, LNG, crude oil and oil products and electricity, in addition to gradually also supporting the emerging value chains of carbon capture and storage and “blue fuels” such as hydrogen.

  • Have a particular focus on the marketing of gas, including bilateral negotiations with European counterparties and LNG customers, gas trading, dispute settlement, as well as associated regulations and market compliance work.

  • Have your own portfolio from the outset, while working together with more experienced lawyers to learn the skills necessary to do the job independently.

You

  • A qualifying degree in law with strong academic results.

  • Preferably three years or more of in-house or law firm experience focusing on business and/or energy law.

  • Commercial mindset and willingness to learn. No prior experience with marketing or energy products is required but is an advantage.

  • An ability to understand and support the business, often within short deadlines and with several tasks in parallel.

  • Proactive, engaged, and comfortable with independent case handling, without support from a manager/partner.

  • Professional level of English language, both written and verbal.
